Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Working abroad can be an exciting experience, but we understand that it can also feel daunting when you are considering spending several months away from home.
KelAir Campotel is a family-owned and operated business, and we take great pride in looking after our employees as part of the KelAir family.
We have answered some of the questions we are asked most frequently below. If you have any other questions, big or small, please do not hesitate to contact Sally Foskin at sally@kellertravel.ie.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by 1 January 2027.
Successful applicants from the initial application stage will be invited to attend an interview. Interviews are expected to take place in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, in February 2027, with the exact date to be confirmed.
What Is a Courier?
Being a Campsite Courier is not your typical 9–5, Monday-to-Friday job. It can be challenging and demanding, but it is also extremely rewarding, and many of our staff return year after year.
Your main responsibilities are to clean and prepare our mobile home accommodation to exceptionally high standards, welcome arriving guests, help them settle in, provide local information and explain the full range of KelAir Campotel services and campsite facilities.
As a Campotel Representative, you will provide excellent customer care, deal with guest queries and emergencies, maintain regular contact with guests and operate the KelAir Reception Area.
Knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage, particularly when dealing with campsite management or emergencies, but it is not essential for all positions.
What’s Included?
We offer a range of benefits, including:
- FREE travel to and from France or Spain.
- FREE accommodation for the duration of your contract in a fully equipped mobile home, including linen, gas, electricity, water and BBQ. Mobiles are typically shared spaces, each staff member will have their own bedroom with a shared living, kitchen and bathroom space.
- FREE KelAir uniform.
- Competitive weekly pay.
- Training when you arrive at your destination.
- Ongoing support and feedback from your Area Manager and our Head Office team in Ireland.
- The opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience in customer service, communication, organisation, time management, problem solving, maintenance and working abroad.
A €300 accommodation deposit is required and is fully refundable upon completion of your contract, provided the accommodation is left to the agreed standard.
Paid return travel is also dependent on the successful completion of your full contract.
How Will I Travel to France or Spain?
KelAir Campotel will arrange and pay for your outward travel from the designated home airport/port to France or Spain.
Couriers will normally travel in small groups, although there may be occasions when you travel independently.
Return travel at the end of the season will also be arranged and paid for by KelAir, provided you successfully complete your full contract.
Can I Choose Where I Work?
We know our campsites well and will allocate you to a location that we feel is best suited to your skills and experience, while also ensuring our customers receive the best possible service.
When Will I Know Which Site I Will Be Working On?
It is almost given that you will be working in France, but the site and even the area may be changed before Montage is completed. However, the majority of positions available are in Brittany, the Vendee & the South West of France. There are a very small number of positions in Spain.
Do I Need to Speak French or Spanish?
A reasonable knowledge of spoken French or Spanish is an advantage, and your language ability may be assessed during the interview.
However, we do have positions available for applicants who do not speak the local language. We consider a wide range of skills, qualities and attributes when selecting our Couriers.
How Long Does the Job Last?
The season normally runs from April until mid-September, depending on the campsite, closing dates and the time required to complete the end-of-season demontage.
Some positions are available for applicants who cannot travel until mid or late May. However, all employees must be available to remain until the 10th of September.
How Much Will I Be Paid and How Often?
Your salary is paid weekly by electronic transfer into your Irish bank account.
The pay week runs from Saturday to Friday, with payment made each Friday and paid one week in arrears. Your payslip will be emailed directly to you from our Head Office in Ireland.
The current rate for new Campsite and Buzzy Bee Couriers is €14.15 per hour.
Your contracted hours are typically 35hours per week.
How Will I Travel Home at the End of the Season?
Provided you remain until the end of your contract and all work is completed to KelAir’s required standard, we will arrange and pay for your return travel from the campsite to the designated home port or Airport.
If you choose not to travel home using the arrangements provided by KelAir, you will be responsible for arranging and paying for your own return journey.
What Accommodation Is Provided?
Couriers are provided with free, fully equipped staff accommodation for the duration of their contract.
Accommodation includes:
- Fully equipped mobile home
- Kitchen inventory
- Linen
- Electricity
- Water
- Gas
- BBQ
Accommodation is shared with other staff (Unless you are a couple), but each person has their own private bedroom.
Staff accommodation is comfortable and suitable for the duration of the season, although it may not be the same age or specification as the accommodation provided to our customers.
Meals are not provided.
A €300 refundable accommodation deposit is required.
Can Friends or Family Come to Stay?
Friends or family members are not permitted to stay in your staff accommodation.
If friends or family wish to visit you, you must first speak with your Manager. If a visit is approved, visitors must arrange and pay for their own accommodation.
Can I Be Placed With Friends Who Have Also Applied?
We generally do not place groups of friends together.
Each campsite usually has a small team of around 2-5 Couriers, and we select staff based on their individual skills, experience and personality to create the best possible team for our customers.
While we cannot guarantee that friends will be placed together, you will be working alongside other people in the same position, making it a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
Do I Have to Wear a Uniform?
Yes. KelAir provides your uniform free of charge.
Uniform must be worn during designated working hours, particularly when working in Reception or when customers need to easily identify you.
We expect all Couriers to maintain a clean, smart and professional appearance while on duty.
