A Day In The Life Of A Couple Courier

Our day starts anytime between 7am and 9am depending on the times of our guest departures but before this I always have a cup of tea brought to me in bed by Peter – what a star!

OK so after breakfast, I, (Elaine) in my reception uniform go and make a few calls to any guests who arrived the previous day to make sure they are satisfied with their mobiles. Also at this time I make my visits to guests leaving today to ensure the mobile is left clean and tidy with all inventory intact before returning their deposit to them. This is also a good time to catch any guests departing the next day to explain the check out procedure and arrange a departure time.

While I am doing this Peter is preparing the bedding and any pre ordered linen or baby equipment for the new guests. There is also a small complimentary welcome pack of tea, sugar etc to be placed in the mobile.

I then return to our mobile and change into my “work clothes” ready for the days preps and collection of used linen to be returned to the laundry for washing.

Once the guest has departed we both then prepare the mobile to Kelair standard, making the beds and ensuring everywhere is spotless and no items have been forgotten by the departing families. Check for any minor repairs needed, fix problem or report to maintenance. Lastly clean windows and arrange outside furniture.

Normally by now it is time for lunch and maybe time to relax either by the pool (weather permitting) or simply reading on the terrace. One of us makes lunch while the other checks at campsite office for any faxes i.e. for late bookings or amendments. Paperwork for the day is completed and diary updated.

On arrival day we would be back on duty for 4pm ready to greet our new guests. Always an exciting time meeting new people. When they arrive we both welcome them to the Kelair reception, offer information on the area, supermarkets, towns and places of interest. We then show them to their mobile and chat briefly as most have had a long journey, (mum and dad want to unpack, while the kids want to go straight to the pool). Peter will show one guest the BBQ while I take the deposit and any holiday tax if due. Once all new guests have arrived the time is our own to socialize with other holiday makers and couriers and enjoy the facilities on the site.

Reception is manned for an hour each day so guests can call and see us should they require assistance with anything. We are always contactable 24 hours via our works mobile and ensure every family is aware of our number.

On a weekly basis, stock needs to be checked, gas levels monitored and emplacements generally tidied up.
On our days off we enjoy the countryside and explore many of the villages and coastline around us.
